Taisce Individual Contributor License Agreement

Not legal advice, and not final. This text is modelled on the short, plain-language contributor agreements used by Microsoft's open-source projects. It must be reviewed by a lawyer qualified in Jordan before this repository accepts an external contribution.

Thank you for contributing to Taisce.

This agreement records the terms on which you contribute. You keep the copyright in everything you write — this is a licence, not a transfer of ownership.

You accept these terms for your present and future Contributions to Taisce.

1. What the words mean​

"Ensera" means Baserat Al Mustaqbal, an establishment registered in Jordan, trading as Ensera.

"You" means the copyright owner, or a legal entity authorised by the copyright owner, agreeing to these terms.

"Contribution" means any work of authorship you intentionally submit to Ensera for inclusion in Taisce — code, documentation, or anything else — including changes to work already there.

"Submit" means to send it by any means to Ensera or its representatives, including through the project's repository, issues and discussions. It does not include anything you clearly mark as "Not a Contribution".

You grant Ensera, and everyone who receives software distributed by Ensera, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to reproduce, modify, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense and distribute your Contribution and works derived from it.

This licence allows Ensera to distribute your Contribution under terms other than the licence the project uses today, including as part of a commercially licensed edition.

Ensera's stated intention is that Taisce is and remains open source under the Apache License 2.0. This agreement does not oblige Ensera to that. Read this section before signing, and do not sign if that possibility is not acceptable to you.

3. Patent licence​

You grant Ensera, and everyone who receives software distributed by Ensera, a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable patent licence to make, use, sell, offer to sell, import and otherwise transfer your Contribution. This covers only the patent claims you can license that your Contribution infringes, alone or in combination with the project it was submitted to.

If you begin patent litigation against anyone alleging that the project, or a Contribution to it, infringes a patent, the patent licences granted to you under this agreement end on the day you file.

4. You are entitled to grant this​

You confirm that you can legally grant the licences above.

If your employer has rights to what you create, you confirm that you have their permission to contribute, or that they have waived those rights, or that they have signed the Corporate agreement and named you on it. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, ask your employer before signing — an agreement you were not entitled to make protects nobody, including you.

5. It is your own work​

You confirm that each Contribution is your own creation, and that you have identified anything in it that comes from somewhere else, together with any licence, patent or trademark restriction you are aware of.

If you want to submit work that is not your own, submit it separately, say where it came from and what restrictions apply, and mark it clearly as "Submitted on behalf of a third party: [name]".

6. No obligation, no warranty​

You are not expected to support your Contribution, though you are welcome to. Unless the law requires it or you agree otherwise in writing, you provide your Contribution "as is", without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty of title, non-infringement, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Tell us if it changes​

If you become aware of anything that makes a statement above inaccurate, tell Ensera.

8. What is recorded when you sign​

Signing records your name, the email address and account you sign with, and the date, kept for as long as the project distributes your Contribution. It is the evidence that the licences above were granted, so it cannot be deleted on request without removing your Contribution from the project. It is not used for anything else.
